Launch startup items as hidden. Since upgrading to Ventura, from Monterey, none of the login/startup items that were set to be hidden after startup, are hidden. All apps still launch at startup, but all of their windows are visible, where in previous OS's, the few I had set to 'Hide' at launch/startup were running, but their windows were unseen.
Briefly press the power button on your Mac, then immediately press and hold command+R. Keep holding the keys until you see a macOS Utilities window appear. Open Disk Utility, then select your Mac’s startup disk and click Erase. Choose a new name and format for your disk.
Go to the top menu bar and select the Terminal option in the Utilities drop down. Type: resetpassword and hit ⏎ Return. A new window will pop up and ask for your admin login. When that pops up, it will show you your name. Select the Apple logo at the top menu bar, restart, and enter that name you found plus your password.
The options for "ls" include: -l, which lets you view the permissions of each file in the directory. -R, which will not only show each folder in the directory, but all their files, as well. -a, which will show any hidden files in the current directory. cd: Where the "ls" command lets you view a directory, the "cd" command will actually move to
So in Terminal if you wanted to set, say, a Restart time to have your Mac restart every night at 3:00 a.m. you could do it using the PMSet Command. Now you have to start with sudo. Sudo mean that you want to run this command with Administrative privileges. So it is going to prompt you for a password.
